Ontario winters are hard on pools that aren’t closed properly. Freeze damage to plumbing lines is one of the most expensive repairs we see every spring — and almost all of it is preventable.
Balance the water first
Closing chemicals only work correctly on properly balanced water. Get pH, alkalinity and calcium hardness in range before you add anything else.
Lower the water level
Skimmers and lines need to be cleared and lowered below the freeze line, with plugs and antifreeze placed correctly in equipment that stays outdoors.
Cover it properly
A properly tensioned safety or winter cover keeps debris — and spring cleanup costs — to a minimum.
If you’d rather not do this yourself, our fall closing packages cover the entire process and get scheduled well before the first hard frost.
